She has covered the sports scene for major media outlets around the globe. She has covered basketball, football and Grand Slam Tennis for The Washington Post. Nichols was hired by ESPN in 2004 and spent nearly nine years with the company, winning two Emmy Awards. She also appeared on the most popular programs on ESPN including SportsCenter as well as NFL Countdown. In addition, Nichols was an assistant journalist on the Monday Night Football broadcasts. Her next move was CNN after which she joined Turner Sports. Unguarded: Rachel Nichols hosted her own show on CNN International. A billion viewers viewed the show worldwide. In the course of this broadcast, Nichols reported on TNT's NBA broadcasts which included regular season, playoffs, and All-Star broadcast teams. She has also worked for TBS reporting as an anchor for golf and baseball broadcasts. CBS broadcasted the Final Four. Only the second woman has been chosen from more than two hundred nominations in the 42-year old history of this award.
